MHA Nation are River People
The MHA Nation has paid in land, water and sometimes with our lives for the right to keep what is legally ours. Now and since the beginning of time, the Three Tribes have been culturally and economically tied to the Missouri River and its riverbed. The royalties earned from the riverbed are key to our Nation’s ability to be self-sufficient and rely less on the federal government. The historical precedent is clear – the MHA Nation owns the rights under the riverbed within the boundaries of the Fort Berthold Reservation.
